Trap Out Begins 7-29-10

Jackson Arms in Glendale had bees in their exterior vent between 1st & 2nd floor. Constructed scaffolding & placed trap out Porter Bee Escape device to keep bees foraging out & hopefully evacuate vent hive workers to bait hive. When bait hive full will relocate to live out life pollinating & keeping hive alive.

Feral Apis Melifera 2010

This El Nino winter/spring has been buzzing w/ bees, bees, bees. Trying to take advantage of & rescue the swarms, cut outs, swarm trap lures, & hive splits to grow up mini apiary.

Only question is how many colonies can area support when dearth hits? Been making bee equipment, 5 frame nuc's, Lang deep hive bodies, 4" shim feeders, Lang deep frames, Lang med. frames, hive stands, swarm trap lures, & finally finish that solar wax melter. Only using repurposed woods & materials but hardware needed from home stores & have to buy premanufactured Lang frames.

Hope to make storage shed from thrown out pallets but that project is slow in going. Seen many plans/ideas here:

Keeping busy learning/ doing to be more sustainable & helping likeminded local folks to build/ keep up in their endeavors toward the same.
